Chelsea Language Academy is the only organization in Canada that requires all of the following conditions be met by the hosts in its Homestay program.
All host families must:
Have previous experience as a student host
Provide references from former students / guests
Submit to criminal background checks
Submit to random inspections
Have university degrees
Be native speakers of English
All homes are located within 30 minutes of the school and they have private rooms. Bathrooms may be private or shared. 2 - 3 meals are provided daily.
Note: because Chelsea Language Academy is located midtown where more houses exist, students will find that their Homestay locations are closer to school than many language schools in Toronto.
Standard Homestay - $789 per month / $197.25 per week (minimum of 4 weeks)
Premium level Homestay (nicer areas and homes) - $1099 per month / $274.75 per week (minimum of 4 weeks)
Shared student apartments (furnished) - $129 per week
A one-time accommodation placement fee of $89 will be charged
Important Note:
Students at other schools usually have those schools choose a homestay family for them. However, students often dislike the homestay families that are chosen for them. Chelsea Language Academy can also choose a homestay family for you, but the school strongly recommends that, instead, you spend the first month in Chelsea's student apartments (shared with students of the same gender).
After you arrive in Toronto, Chelsea management will suggest some potential homestay families for you to visit and choose among (or you can continue to stay in the student apartments - where you'll enjoy greater freedom and make more friends). Chelsea thus offers you the power of personal choice and ensures a positive experience for everyone.
